You could call it that, but it's really more of a "conference." :-D

Watching on YES.

Thing looks like the old Yankee Stadium.

Resturaunt in the centerfield "black".

30,000 Lower deck seats, 20,000 Upper deck which is opposite of the current stadium which has those numbers reversed.

if they weren't so successful, this wouldn't even be getting discussed, it would have been done already.

In a weird way the fans of the most successful team have gotten some of the worst facilities. I hate yankee stadium, it is so steep, it is downright unnerving, poorly marked and is in fairly bad condition.

I really don't see how this is a debate -- especially considering that Yankee stadium is a ny insitution and a tourist destination as well.

I always thought that if NY is the gateway to the world or whatver nonsense they say, it is ludicrous that the times sqaure subway station and yankee stadium are in the disrepair they actually are.

If it is coming from the team, I don't even think we should be asking about this.

Lifelong New Yorker and I defintely think they need a new stadium. It looks beautiful on television for everyone to see but people watching on TV don't have to walk around inside the joint. It's horrible for fans inside the stadium. They need to make it much fan friendlier and this will be accomplished in the new place. Like I've said in the othe post regarding this, they aren't leaving the Bronx(in fact they aren't leaving the block. It's right across the street), the new stadium will be very similar to the original Yankee Stadium and thet are paying for the WHOLE stadium, very few pro teams do that anymore. The city will pay for some more parking and some improvements to the subway I believe but that is nothing compared to other teams who want their cities to pay half the bill sometimes. Personally I think the winningest franchise in sports history should have a modern stadium and I for one can't wait to see a game there.
Finally The Rock has come back....to New York City!!

TWhat's the point of the topic? To call the Yankees greedy? I just don't understand. :-/

Whether they need it or not is irrelevant IMO. If they're going to pay for it, let them build a new one every 10 yrs if they feel like it, whatever they want, and this applies to any team.

It's nice to see that much of the tradition of Yankee Stadium, the facade(sp), Monument Park is being preserved, as well as the dimensions (although with this team, they'd be more helped if the short porch were in LF (Alex, Sheffield, even Jeter).
