Yankee stadium was FINE! It is beautiful. The Yankees have no need whatsoever for a new stadium. Unfortunately, they are probably just doing it for profit.

I've had the opportunity to visit roughly 20 stadiums across the country, most of them pretty new.

After visiting the new stadiums it makes you realize what an absolute dump Yankee stadium and Shea stadium actually are. Shea is 10X worse than Yankee stadium but they are both still dumps. The only thing nice about Yankee stadium is the tradition. It is the furthest thing away from fan friendly that you can imagine.

They need a new stadium just like the Mets. And who cares if they get a new one, they're paying for it themselves anyway.

They are planning on using the same ridiculus field dimensions. As a life-long Bosox fan, I have allways thought the green monster was an abomination. They should have closed down Landsdown St. and ripped it down years ago. Baseball should be played on grass, on large symatrical fields, and with wooden bats. Doubleheaders on Sunday would be nice.

Who the hell cares? They aren't asking for New York's money, they are dishing out all 800 million themselves.

that's awful, next thing you know they'll be able to afford a $300mil. payroll... OH NO!!!!

come on. they're not asking the city for money and most of the revenue will make it back into the team. if only other teams thought that way.

Do you mean "need" in the sense that if they don't have it they'll stop breathing? Or that the current stadium is on the verge of tumbling down? Or "need" in the same way that Stein needed Unit, or that Tom Cruise needs Katie Holmes? Because nobody really ever "needs" a new stadium. But yeah, it'd be kinda nice. :-D

Let's face it. Baseball is a business. This will generate more revenue which is good thing for business.
