He's only been talked about as a peripheral part of trades thus far, but Sergio Mitre has been very impressive his last two starts showing that he knows how to get outs. Probably benefitting from some Maddux talk, but this guys sinker is just plain pretty. Now I almost hate to see him go, but if Wood and Prior are looking serviceable by the trade dealine, I think Mitre is a goner. Given that we'll get a LF or CF in the process, I won't shed too many tears.
He can be a central piece of a trade and possibly fantasy worthy after 1 or 2 more good starts.
No doubt Mitre will be more than just a toss in... he's only allowed like one fly ball in his last two outings! That sinker of his has looked great as of late.
Gammons said tonight he thinks the Cubs will send a package deal including Rich Hill (6'6" AAA stud lefthander) and Dave Aardsma (reliever from Hawkins deal) to the D-Rays for Aubrey Huff.
As a Cubs fan, picturing Sheff in Cubbie blue brings a smile to my face, but I think I'd rather have Huff. Despite his slow start, he's still an absolute stud, and who knows how many years Sheff has left in him?

And keeping sheff happy and content is the impossible task. I'd say Huff as a younger proven hitter with good upside would be more desirable.
"24 hours in a day, 24 beers in a case. Coincidence? I think not."
With the injury histories of Prior and Wood, not that Prior's current stint on the DL is anything more than horrible luck while Wood's is more concerning, I think it'd be wise to hang on to Mitre.
in two weeks or so, when wood is back on the DL, prior breaks his eyelasshes and zambrano puts his fist through the keyboard again they will NEED Mitre to start every other game. they can't trade him.
Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day, teach a man to fish and he'll drown because you forgot to teach him to swim.
