Bedard out another MONTH!!!

Postby BeefSandwiches » Tue Jun 14, 2005 9:25 pm

From Rototimes.com:
Jun. 14 Erik Bedard (P) Bal will likely spend another month on the disabled list with a strained ligament in his left knee, according to the AP. It was originally thought that he would only be out for about two weeks. "It's progressively healing, but slowly," Bedard said. "No need to push it. I would rather wait." Bedard will probably make two rehab starts in the minors before coming off the DL.

:-t :-t Hayden Penn may get more work than originally planned... :-t :-t

Think he'll be back to form when he does get back?

The worst part was his trip was the DL was classified as a "pre-cautionary" measure by most..... At this rate, Prior and Dotel have a better shot of returning to action before this guy.

With Bedard possibly out another month is it worth keeping him or is time to look for someone else on the WW?

Well you (and me both) have held on to him this long--you can't turn back now. I'm sure someone would nab him up anyway if he was on WW.

Yes, I've waited with Bedard for a month too, but is this getting too long? Remember, that's a wasted roster spot for another month (assuming you don't have extra DL spots, which lord knows many of us here at the cafe don't.) Say Bedard actually comes back in 2 weeks, you're looking at what, a mid/end of July return? Bedard was posting amazing numbers for the beginning of the year, I think the chances he'll continue to do that once off the DL are extremely slim. Im droppin the guy.
...Boston papers now and then suffer a sharp flurry of arithmetic on this score; indeed, for Williams to have distributed all his hits so they did nobody else any good would constitute a feat of placement unparalleled in the annals of selfishness. -Updike

I think he still has value in most leagues. Personally, Im gonna hold... but I can afford to the wasted spot in most leagues, and their really isn't any compelling FA on the list that will contribute.

Funny, Harang was my replacement..... same track record as Bedard (ie: no record) and I never hestiated to start Bedard, but always second guess Harang.
