Depends. Are you talking from the business side, or the personal side?
From the business side, it's great. People keep coming in, getting prescriptions for whatever junk the doctors tell them they "need", and the entire medical profession continues to make money. Couldn't be any better than that, could it?
From a personal standpoint, it's horrible. Americans just flat out don't take responsibility for their own actions and don't realize that most problems are only in their heads. They also want some sort of attention for their "issues", or a miracle cure. Most of the time, a placebo will do the exact same job the prescription will do. It's all a mental thing for a lot of people who take prescriptions.
It's not getting any better either, so this path will continue for quite some time. Pretty sad.
Yes doctor, I am sick. Sick of those who are spineless. Sick of those who feel self-entitled. Sick of those who are hypocrites. Yes doctor, an army is forming. Yes doctor, there will be a war. Yes doctor, there will be blood.....
I hate pills. I very, very rarely take aspirin/ibuprofen for pain...of course, I'm only 26 and have had very few problems with illness or pain. Who knows what will happen down the road. I personally wonder sometimes why doctors give out 80,000 pills for people to use. Some of them do need it, but sometimes you wonder if some random pills are really necessary.
The other annoying thing is that most of these medicines would not be needed if people just stayed active and didn't eat a bunch of crap.
Allergies won't kill you (or so I don't think), so all these allergy medicines are fairly pointless.
Cholesterol problems? Go out and walk a few miles a day, stop eating at McDonalds, and don't stuff your face so full that you can't walk. You only need 2000 calories to live, not 6000.
Viagra? If your wife doesn't like you without taking a pill, dump her.
I say if you don't need it to live, don't take it.

I love pills. I take whatever I need to get through pain/suffering. Whatever makes me feel better.

Allergies might not kill you but there are many people out there that are severely allergic to tons of things. A friend of mine is almost allergic to oxygen so he takes allergy medication. I have seen him have attacks and I don't blame him 1 bit. I agree about the cholesterol if it is self induced. Some people have hereditary issues with that. Lifestyle changes can help but not cure the problem. I agree about the Viagra thing except I might wanna have some fun, too.
