What's starange is the fact that a few days for his return has turned into weeks, which have turned into months. I bet he won't be back until September.

Yea, I've come to that conclusion as well, and now that Hudson went on the DL i needed to open a slot for him so I sent Bedard to the waiver wire earlier today, I just got sick of waiting and I just don't know how useful he'll be either after a lay off that long and if he's not coming back until August or so, that's when the O's start going back into the AL East again. That would be a rough way to come off the DL right back into the likes of Boston and the Yanks...

Bedard threw 50 pitches off a mound on Monday and might be sent to a minor league rehabilitation assignment later this week, the Washington Post reports.

"We'll see how many rehab outings he needs," Mazzilli said. "His arm is in shape. His arm strength is fine. Now it's back to facing hitters." Bedard won't see any major league action until after the All-Star break, but it's good to know his knee isn't bugging him.

Erik Bedard threw five shutout innings Tuesday night in a rehab stint with Class-A Delmarva.
He's been out since May 21 with a strained medial collateral ligament in his left knee and this was expected to be his final rehab stint before coming off the DL for a start in Minnesota on Monday. ``I felt great.
