Good news but if it's really badly sprained, I am surprised at the 1-2 week diagnosis. I guess that it has to do with where the actual sprain is but they say that sprains can actually be worse than breaks and take longer to heal.

I think it really depends on the severity and the type of sprain, but in general I think a break is prefered to a severe sprain.

Well, it's not necessarily REALLY sprained - just a "more than normal" or a "bad" sprain, as the doctor said. It's just a normal sprain, but in a tight spot, so that's why it hurts a little more. He said despite this, I should be fine by 2 weeks (or by next Friday when I see him again). I took one pill from him today and when it kicks in, it really feels better. The pill wasn't Codeine...it was Mobic! He also has me icing the ankle for a few days, then heating it.
If it doesn't "kick in", I usually just wash them down with a few beers??
