As far as I know it's a 3 yr deal. Next year would be the final year.

Sheffield is only a small part of the malaise. Giambi is a dead ship. The guy can't hit can't field can't do anything right. When he bats he hurts the Yanks, when he plays the field he hurts the Yanks. The guy is better off on the bench for the Yanks sake. At least there he won't do anything that'll be detrimental to the Yank's chances of winning a game. Although I could be wrong on that. We should just cut him and eat the contract to save the team from Giambi.

I agree that Sheff isn't as detrimental as Giambi or someone like that but...

He's a jerkoff and should never have been offered a place on the Yankees. He represents everything that's wrong with them. He's old, immature, selfish and an overpaid all-star who's done nothing with the bright lights on him.

I also just described the entire Yankee roster.

What is scary is that Giambi's contract is nowhere near over and his annual salary will continue to rise:
2005: $11 mill
2006: $18 mill
2007: $21 mill
2008: $21 mill

I don't see how Sheff is a problem at all. They didn't really need him at the time but he isn't a problem.
