From what I understand the Mets new stadium is a go for 2009 whether or not NYC gets the Olympics. I haven't been able to get in touch with my brother and I don't live in NY anymore, so did I read this correctly? Wilpon pays for the stadium and NYC pays for the infrastructure. Then if NYC gets the Olympics the stadium seating is altered for 2012 and the Mets play in Yankee Stadium for that year and then move back in 2013.
2013. Geez, sounds like a sci-fi movie.
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

Hehe I don't really care if NYC gets the Olympics. I'd probably go to see some events but it's nothing I'd lose sleep over. The cool thing is since Wilpon finally agreed to privately fund the stadium, getting a stadium doesn't hinge on the Olympics. The only thing that does, like Rirruto pointed out, is playing in Yankee Stadium.
