A neat thing happened today....

I work in the public as a demonstator/spokesperson and while at work at young boy comes up to me, checking out our stuff. He was probably 10 or 11 years old and wearing a Mariners hat.

Now, most young kids I see these days (which is a lot) wear sports wear, be it NFL, NBA, or MLB hats, jerseys, etc. Most just wear them cause they look cool like the rappers they idolize. VERY few know anything about the game or the players in it.

I asked the boy if he was a Seattle fan and he responded with an enthusiastic "Yeah!". He then went on a rant about how Ichiro is his idol and he wishes he'd break out of his mini-slump and how the Mariners should call up Felix Rodriguez, etc, etc....

I was stunned and overjoyed to see a kid that excited and up to date on baseball. When I was young, all the kids in my hood were like that.

Just warmed my cold, old heart.....that is all.....

Agreed, it's great to see baseball making a comeback.

Most people aged 12-20 don't enjoy MLB at all, due to the strike's ramifications.
