is Hermanson gonna lose his closing job?

I don't see how he could lose his job. He has been awesome all year. I wouldn't worry about it yet. If he blows a few more though, Guillen will likely start tinkering. I think the Sox have been playing over their heads all year, and they will struggle inthe 2nd half!!

Politte seriously struggles against lefties (they hit .278 against him over his career....1.68 WHIP... .226/1.14 against righties), so if that really became the case, I would expect a complete committee in which Damaso Marte pitched against lefties and Cliff Politte pitched against righties. Politte cannot become a full-time closer due to his lack of ability to get lefties out. However, Ozzie hasn't shown the slyness to probably even know that, so it's possible.

I'll quickly add that Neal Cotts (2.42 ERA/1.03 WHIP/.167 BAA) has pitched well this year and Ozzie might not feel too bad about moving Damaso to the closer gig if he's confident in Cotts to be the lefty specialist. However, Kelly Wunsch was a damn good lefty specialist who neither Guillen or Manuel really trusted and even let go after last year.

It's too bad Luis Vizcaino isn't pitching well. He looked like a possible future closer for MIL in the past before getting dealt.

i think hermanson will several more chances to close, but i do believe that the white sox will start to slow down from their great start.... i think they will start playing much closer to a 500 team from here on out then a 725 team....

He's not gonna lose his job. He's been too good this season for the Sox to just move him back to the set-up job.
