I agree the manager's job is to try and win the game. However, he shouldn't completely ignore player achievement either.

I also don't agree with throwing a player into a pressure situation with the game on the line when he is coming back from an injury which caused him to miss his previous 7 games.

independent of the player, when you've got a chance to win, you toss your best hitter available out there. I seriously doubt Roberts was thinking, "aw crap, I might lose my hitting streak." More like, "come on now Brian, let's win this game." I'm sure Roberts would have WANTED to be out there.

managers play to win and their best chance was with roberts coming to hit. i don't even think the hit streak crossed his mind before putting roberts in. roberts will be back with another streak soon anyway.

Wow, can't believe this is even a topic

I'm sure if they kept him out of the game and preserved a 20 game hitting streak (36% of the record) and lost still, in 3 months when they are 1 game out of the WC or behind the leader, they say "At least B-Rob had that 25 game hitting streat earlier this year!!"
