We've been hearing the buzz on these young players but how do they compare? Teixeira is on fire and will have Pujols-like eligibility. Huff is also expected to get eligibility at 3rd soon and is expected to hit 30+ HR. Blalock also has fewer HRs than Huff but has the highest RBIs and OBP of the three. In the end, I'd still have to rank them as follows:
Aubrey Huff
Hank Blalock
Mark Teixeira
Experience is a hard teacher. She gives the test first, the lesson afterwards.
Huff is obviously the best of the three.......he is a virtual lock for 30 homers. Blalock is a top 10 third baseman at this point, although his average will likely eventually come down to Earth. I don't think Teixera will give great production for this year and probably isn't worth a spot in mixed non-keeper leagues.
Huff(why not when he hit .315 last year, can play 1B, 3B, or OF, and will most likely hit 30 HRs this year)
Blalock(No track record in the bigs so far, but is hot)
Texeira(No track record in the bigs either, but pretty good)

Anybody who doesn't put Huff #1 is smoking wacky reefer. The other two are way behind, at this point, WAY BEHIND! The fact that almost nobody gives him his due respect is a joke. This is the second year the guy has been tearing the AL up. What more does anybody need to see??????

you're right. if Huff is eligible at third, he's the no-brainer choice, IMO

If Huff played 1B for a contender, like the Cardinals or Mariners, he'd be a top 5-8 1B, top 3 3B. He just has no one to hit in, nor anyone to hit him in, so his numbers seem low. But if you consider how many 1B's and 3B's can hit .315 and 40 HR's, then his true ability becomes apparent.
