Give me a break. It was a legal play and a clean play. Nothing dirty about it at all. Guys have been doing that since the start of the game. Who cares if he could/couldn't have slid and gotten in? He chose the best way he thought to get the job done and it worked. If the game is tied in the ninth, there's a guy on third and one out, do you really care how the guy gets that run over? No, as long as he gets it done. Erstad had a job to do, and that was score that run, which he did. It wasn't like he went in cleats-up, or went to take him out at the knees, blatantly trying to injure him. He took him on square in the shoulder just like you're supposed to. Estrada will be fine, Erstad scored the run, and the Angels won the game. I can't believe there's even a post about that play other than to praise Erstad for hustling his ass off and sacrificing his body. The Braves didn't retaliate because Bobby Cox and the rest of his team are classy, veteran players, and they respect a hustle play like that more than anyone. Jeez, you sound like one of those kids whose mom wouldn't let him play football when he was a kid 'cuz he might break his pinky.
