It is, Mel's wanted to retire for a couple of years now but Torre keeps convincing him to stay.

He's been there since the championship run started, I believe, maybe 1995 was the first season with the Yanks. And obviously, he had plenty of success earlier in his tenure. He was also the pitching coach for the Mets for most of the '80s. It's a shame to see them struggling so much now, but I definitely don't place all the blame on Mel.
