Midseason H2H

Postby da1chipo » Sun Jun 05, 2005 8:50 pm

I'm gonna start up a Yahoo! midseason H2H league for my friends and me. I've never done H2H. What should the max. innings pitched be at?

You people need to crawl out from under your rock and acquaint yourselves with Heidi Klum.

Heidi Klum...never looks exactly the same way twice to me...but always somehow ok. I'm kind of disappointed; I was hoping this was a whole new infatuation.

Anyway, keep those messages coming. At least until you update your avatar...

I'm doing a mid-season yahoo roto, and yahoo just set the IP at 725. I think this is too small personally, as there will be a little more than half the season left when everything starts (mid-season starts June 20th).

Anyway, also noticed that drafting becomes very odd in the mid-season. Just some examples from the league I just drafted in

1st round: Dontrelle Willis
2nd round: Derrek Lee, Brian Roberts, Carlos Beltran, Todd Helton
3rd: Scott Pods
5th: Ryan Dempster
6th: Kenny Rogers, Clint Barmes

Just some odd picks. Course, one guy drafted pitchers with his first 8 picks, so that was new. This league did allow me to draft Abreu, Peavy, Crawford, Thome, Burnett, Billy Wagner, and Hank Blalock with my first 7 picks though. Will be interesting league
...Boston papers now and then suffer a sharp flurry of arithmetic on this score; indeed, for Williams to have distributed all his hits so they did nobody else any good would constitute a feat of placement unparalleled in the annals of selfishness. -Updike

I don't like using a max innings pitcher per week limit in H2H leagues. I like to see the strategy that teams play in trying to weigh K's and Wins against ERA and WHIP. If you want to limit teams from loading up on starters and Innings, make Win % a category rather than IP limit. I think that is a better judge and gives a manager a reason to keep from loading up on starters for a given week if they think the guy has a tough matchup. The innings cap is also subjective based on the roster size of your league and the available pitching slots. I.E. 2 SP, 2 RP, 3 P or whatever.
