Freel is not in the starting lineup today for the second day in a row.. instead the useless Rich Aurilia is playing 2B again. WTF?!?!?.. How on earth Aurilia gets any playing time at all in that lineup is beyond me, much less ahead of Freel, who actually produces. What is going on there?!..
Dave Miley has got to be the least fantasy-friendly manager in all the major league..
Rich Aurilia - SS - Reds Rich Aurilia went 3-for-4 and hit a home run for the second straight day against the Rockies. Ryan Freel played center yesterday and was given tonight off to open up some playing time for Aurilia, who entered Coors Field with a 557 OPS in 104 AB. Aurilia shouldn't go back to being a regular, but he'll probably get more at-bats than most utlitymen, at least until the Reds get Anderson Machado back. Jun. 4 - 11:46 pm et
Thing is, Rich also drove in a run with his first AB today. Hopefully he goes back to being a schlub upon leaving Colorado and Freel can have the job back.
Aurilia with three strikeouts today, including one to end the game, that's more like it. So do you suppose that if the Reds get swept by the Rockies, and Aurilia is in the lineup for all three, that Miley might take a hint as to what part of the problem is?.. Or are the problems there too multiple to list?..
In weekly transaction leagues it's a little harder to use a guy like Freel. It's not going to get better either when Wily Mo comes back. Reds need to make a trade or have a couple of injuries before I could justify starting Freel over an everyday player. It's to bad to because he's a great sparkplug kinda guy for Cincy. But do they ever do things right?
Seriously teams would die for a leadoff guy like Freel yet the reds think he's chum and throw him on the bench for Aurilla...Cincy must have some tainted water....this is redonkulous
