I was looking forward to him dominating OAK and I'd normally bench SP if prev start, pitcher threw a lot of pitches. but he should still handle oak easily. If it was a medium to hard team in his next start, I'd definitely bench him.
Hmmm... I have often thought about this, but I don't recall seeing any evidence that a pitcher will do worse. How is this strategy working out for you this year? Have you been doing this for a while and find it to be effective?

I'd like to hear the thought process behind him throwing 150 pitches too.
Yes doctor, I am sick. Sick of those who are spineless. Sick of those who feel self-entitled. Sick of those who are hypocrites. Yes doctor, an army is forming. Yes doctor, there will be a war. Yes doctor, there will be blood.....
Livan seems more able to handle a very heavy workload than any pitcher in baseball. He's been a horse for years and keeps on truckin'. I've read that he will "coast," meaning he doesn't go all out on every pitch. He hits spots, changes speeds, mixes it up. He pitches like a guy from 90 years ago, when pitchers didn't go all out on every pitch. When he needs it for a key at-bat or a key pitch, he can go full force, but he seems to be able to pitch at 80% effort, or whatever he needs to, and still be effective.
Roger Angell: I was talking with Bob Gibson and I said: 'Are you always this competitive?' He said: 'Oh, I think so. I got a three-year old daughter, and I've played about 500 games of tic-tac-toe with her and she hasn't beat me yet.'

35 years ago he'd be back out there after 3 days rest. I think the pen had gotten a heavy workout over the last few days ... still, it's a bit unusual to see this in the 21st century (although I saw a high school game a few years ago where a kid threw 190 pitches )

I love your thinking. It's why every year I'm able to get Livan. He's the 8th best ranked SP in my points league. But still every year he slides to the later rounds. His WHIP isn't that great but the guy knows how to WIN. And get decent K's and have a decent ERA. So if he helps me in 3 of 4 pitching cats in roto scoring as well, how is he still not valueable to fantasy teams?

According to people who work for the club, Livan throws extra pitches AND extra long toss on his offdays even after pitching complete games. I don't think that throwing 150+ in one game will affect his next start, though it might for any other pitcher out there.
