Looking to trade Vazquez

I think Detroit gave up on Encarnacion much too quickly. Not too long ago (but apparently too long in terms of the business side of baseball), he was being touted as one of the best prospects around. He also would have been a good fit for Detroit's park.

I don't think he'll keep playing at quite the level he is now. He still needs to significantly improve his plate discipline in order to have a shot of reaching his potential. This may sound like blasphemy in light of his early success (and isn't realistic with Griffey on the DL), but I think a month or two in the minors where he could concentrate on that aspect of his game would be good for him.

I'd also love to know how he's fitting in with the Reds' clubhouse...

No, he rejected it, oh well.

I am now trying Valentin and Vazquez for Nomar.

Hopefully it works out.

If the guy you're trading with is following the Expos-Mets game, he just might jump on this offer: no runs, hits or walks through three innings, four strikeouts. Plus a comfy 6-0 lead... Not too shabby - hope you started him! :-D

Well, that was nice, but it was all downhill from there. I went to bed happy with how he was going, and wake up to see the mets came back and won 9-8. And to think I cancelled the trade I had just offered with him involved. Probably no one will want him now.

Yeah, that game turned pretty ugly from a pitcher's perspective. Don't come down on Vazquez too hard, though. He did, after all, allow less than one baserunner per inning, and thew runs were partially the fault of an awful bullpen performance.

Sometimes stats aren't very fair: Leiter was hammered, but wasn't charged with a single earned run, while Vazquez was charged with six. Nevertheless, Vazquez pitched a much better game. Keep your trade offer up, but if nothing comes of it, just be patient. Vazquez will put up much better numbers soon.
