How can you say it's not even close?? Putting any bias aside, everyone agrees that Nathan is the most dominant closer at this point in the season. Rincon is easily one of the top 5 set-up men no matter how you look at it, and is arguably better than Shields. I dont see how someone can say that Shields and K-Rod are the clear-cut top relief tandem in the game right now.
This field, this game, it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh people will come Ray, people will most definitely come.
I think Brazoban/Gagne is potentially the best, but Braz has gotta get settled down again. He's been getting roughed up lately. This might take a year or two for Brazoban to get his stuff together. Shields/K-Rod is probably best now.
Mota/Gagne was the best over the last year or two, though Gordon/Rivera was quite good last year, too.

If we're talking real life and not fantasy, by the end of the year I think it will be Rivera & Gordon. Although I doubt Shields/K-Rod or Rincon/Nathan will be far behind. They're all top tier.
I'm just eyeballing it, but over the last few weeks, I'd have to say Urbina and Farnsworth. Those guys are on fire right now, check it out.

I've always thought that Farnsworth was Closer material. The guy can throw 100mph.

I was waiting for someone to bring the tremendously underrated Linebrink into this conversation.
Best 1/2? I sure don't see there being any clear cut best combo (how some of you guys can say any pairing is the best "by a mile" is pretty absurd). Rincon/Nathan, Gordon/Rivera, Shields/KRod plus Linebrink/Hoffman...all impressive. Get to the eighth with the lead and you're on terra firma with any of those late inning duos!
