Dotel started out as a starter, so could it be possible that the time as a SP had anything to do with this?
Also, does anyone know of any similarities that other closers/relievers that have gone through this and what the success rate was overall?
If I can find anything, I'll let this forum know.
Thanks.

Here's some info on Tommy John surgery from USA Today.
Of worth noting, Tom Gordon underwent this surgery.
He could be the best example for Dotel. Both were SP in the minors and early part of their seasons. They both turned into solid/great relievers. What's even scarrier, both were born in November!
Gordon was about the same age as Dotel when he underwent Tommy John surgery.

Good luck,
