I just traded Cantu for Javy (I have Peralta playing in Cantu's spot at MI) and currently no catcher on my roster. What do we have as realistic target dates for Javy's return? Where will he hit in the lineup? Finally, considering how weak the catchers have been all season is there any reason to think that Javy won't put up top 3-5 catcher #s for the rest of the season once he returns? Is his hand going to be fully healed when he comes back? Will it restrict his ability to produce? :-o

Lopez (hand) hasn't yet been cleared to resume batting practice, the Baltimore Sun reports.

Lopez won't come off the DL at least until after the O's return from their current road trip on July 24.

More delays... hopefully just another two weeks-

Jul 19 Out with a broken hand since May 24, Lopez could start a minor league rehab assignment by the weekend. The Orioles would like their starting catcher to get roughly 25 at-bats in the minors, so Lopez could be returning to the Baltimore lineup within the next two weeks.

Good news. Although Greg Zaun has been a run scoring machine lately. Depending on this week and how Javy does in his rehab, I might keep him around for next week too. God, the catchers I've had to use since Javy went down:

T. Hall (horrible)
M. Lieberthal (even worse)
J. Estrada (very disappointing)
Y. Molina (1 game, broken hand)
G. Zaun (great, finally for the last week+)

Tell me about it. I picked up Pierzynski and wound up trading him toward Inge about a month ago....... but man I'm ready for Javy to come back. Hopefully he recovers his form better than Rolen has :-[
