i'm going to keep a close eye on Orvella... who they just called up. If they use him in the setup role at all, that could be some indication.

from st. petersburg times.

Initially, Piniella planned to use Orvella, who was promoted from Double A on Monday, in the sixth and/or seventh innings. But after watching him retire all five batters he faced Tuesday, Piniella admitted he had bigger things in mind for the 24-year-old.

"I'd like to see the kid take the setup role," Piniella said. "How's that? We've passed it around. We'll see."

and from CBS:

FANTASY ANALYSIS
If Orvella can continue to pitch well as a setup man, he could see time as a closer at some point if the Devil Rays trade Danys Baez as expected.

The Devil Rays called up Lee Gardner from Triple-A Durham on Friday. He was 2-0 with a 2.01 ERA and eight saves in 22 1/3 innings at Durham, and is the Devil Rays all-time Minor League saves leader with 92.

this guy has the experience of closing and could be the man....I think his era and whip speak for themselves in the past season - but his K numbers aren't great for a closer....
