he's made 12 starts in his career but 10 at DH and only 2 at another position (1B)

if he gets 10 games played or 5 starts at a position, he will gain specific eligibility

So, by next Saturday, this should happen - of course if he sees majority of starts. I don't forsee them moving Inge into a catching roll or sharing time.
Who's the backup 1B/C in this situation for Detroit? I mean, Shelton should be their prime time first basemen now, correct?
I'm just not sure of this guy though. Do you really want someone on your team named ‘Shelton’?

This has been discussed here:

Shelton is not and will not play C for DET. Neither will Inge. Shelton played 6 games @ C in 2004, so if thats enough for him to qualify @ C in your league, then so be it - otherwise dont expect that to change now.
He will play 1B enough times to qualify there shortly. Shelton and DY will platoon between 1B and DH for the immediate future.

I know we discussed it before, Cornbread, but I must mention that 1B is pretty crowded with Dimitri. In other words, Shelton is probably a platoon option at best. So, be prepared.
[edit: Sorry, just realized you said the same thing in your last sentence!!!]
