Anyone noticed the possible FA after next year?

Postby Jack-In-A-Box » Wed Jun 01, 2005 2:11 am

I look at these this far in advance because sometimes you'll see guys on teams that are struggling and that may be looking to get younger for the future. Thus these guys that are FA's either this year or the next are likely the guys that could be on the move sooner or later. I just thought it intresting to see so many big names out there. And teams that you think may spend big before this years deadline or in the offseason might actually wait until next year to really start spending some of their cash. Just a sampling of FA's to be by end of next year that I saw...And feel free to correct me if you notice something has changed or left off the list.

Possible FA's by end of 2006-(Just the more well known names)

Catchers- J.Posada, I.Rod, J.Lopez, A.J. Pierzynski

Firstbase- S.Casey, P.Nevin, D.Lee, D.Young, A.Huff, D.Ortiz

Secondbase- L.Castillo, A.Soriano, J.Kent

Third- C.Jones, M.Mora, P.Feliz

SS- K.Matsui, J.Rollins, J.Lugo

OF- L.Gonzalez, B.Bonds, C.Floyd, J.Edmonds, J.Pierre, M.Cameron, T.Hunter, A.Rowand, G.Sheffield, J.D. Drew, J.Guillen, T.Nixon, S.Stewart

Starters- B.Radke, M.Mulder, B.Zito, M.Prior, K.Wood, B.Webb, M.Mussina, J.Wright, A.Eaton, K.Escobar, B.Lawrence, T.Wakefield, A.Pettitte, D.Davis, M.Buerhle, D.Wells, J.Smoltz

Closers- M.Rivera, F.Cordero, K.Foulke, E.Gagne

There are many more. And also note that some of these mentioned may have Team Options, Player/Team Void Options, Arbitration Elig, etc. But that is a rather impressive list. I got this info from http://www.mlb4u.com if anyone wants to take a closer look. I just thought it was intresting to see which guys could be on the move possibly in the next few months or year.

I'm pretty sure Furcal is in the final year of his contract. I'm very interested to see if he'll stay in Atlanta(somewhat doubt it because of money issues) or if he'll go somewhere else.

johnny damon is a free agent after this year.

I like looking at this information for my non-keeper league to see if any of these guys are performing over their heads this year to make more money next year (like Beltre or Drew last year). Those are good guys to go after.

Maloze: Are you really a Dave Winfield fan? Please tell me what he brought to the Yankees other than no World Series rings?

Dave Winfield couldn't hold Reggie's jock.

Sorry to be off topic here but it had to be said.

"Dave Winfield. Best RFer in NYY history"

This is one of the most ridiculous comments I think I've ever read. In fact, it borders on the absurd.

maloze:

Here are a few Yankee RF that might have been just a lil bit better than Winfield . . .

1. Ruth
2. Reggie
3. Bauer
4. Maris
5. O'Neill

I might even consider the following before over rated Winfield . . .

Wee Willie Keeler
2 different Alou's
Bobby Bonds
Danny Tartabull

For you to make that ridiculous Winfield statement you must be realetd to the man.

Have you guys seen the free agent in 2011 list? Simply mind boggling.
