Wickman injured... Riske the closer now?

With Wickman out with back spasm... do you think Riske will be the closer in Cleveland? He got the save yesterday!

i think it would be based on matchup. I also think rhodes could get a save chance if the matchup is right. Riske is probably the 1st option though. I doubt wickman will be out for more than a couple days at the most.

I'm with Jason. Back spasm normally aren't going to keep a guy out for very long at all. But, I think Howry and Riske both have as likely a chance to close out games as RHP.

anyone have an update on Wickman? My reliever staff has been decimated - Mota and Jones now closing by committee, Percival on the DL forever, Cincinatti closing by committee... is this thing serious, or will he be back within the week?

First of all, Mota will regain the closer job once he'll throw some inning sto get his feet wet again. No way they'll platoon him woth Jones.

Wagner will be the official closer in a couple of days in Cinci. He's simply the best pitcher they have in the bullpen and he's gonna be a fine closer in the near future.

As for the Indians... Wickman was suppose to be available today... so we'll see.
