Sure, he's young and he'll get cold. But this is beyond cold... I couldn't possibly trade him now. I wouldn't get anything in return. I have no choice but to ride it out... Maybe poor pitching from the Royals and DRays will be the cure for his fever, but I'm not holding my breath. Bottom line: Morneau has found a place on my bench and I'm shopping for a permanent 1B since I doubt that, outside of a couple hot streaks the rest of the year, he'll give me the points I want from that position....
morneau is the kinda hitter once he starts hitting again he makes up for his slump and then some. soriano is that way too. sori goes one month of non existant baseball than tears it up for the next month. morneau seems likes that. yes, he may kill your 1b spot for a few weeks but what happens when he starts hitting bombs and driving in runs for the next month? his stats should be top 5 by the end of sept. def, top 10 no question.
Traded Penny for Morneau 3 weeks; and really thought I was getting over on a starting pitching starved league-mate. ALthough Penny has pitched well; he's gotten no run support....yet he hasn't actually hurt his new team.......
Not giving up on Morneau, and can't afford to trade him for nothing now, but he sure has hurt my team...
It really hurts your season when you gotta deal with Kendall(first 2 months were horrid), Helton(...),Huff(the man needs to be traded from Tampa Bay NOW), Beltran(1 SB?), Morneau, Corey Patterson, C. Zambrano...I'm 5th out of a 10team league..12? games out...
Morneau was on my "way overrated" list this season. He may yet be a stud but he's like 24 and he'll take many, many lumps on the way to stardom. I'll let someone else pay for those lumps.
Unfortunately, Beltre was NOT on that overrated list and he somehow found himself playing 3rd for my team and has STUNK.
I am the Master. Don't question the Master. Just do what he says and be proud.

When you have great young players you have to be patient and be willing to bench them when they go through inevitable slumps. Don't trade Morneau, but have someone who can fill in for him when he goes 12 games having a .150 AVG... This board sometimes gets a little too "what have you done for me lately." I know it's somewhat necessary to be agressive and utilize hot players, but stick with the studs.
well put. especially about this board sometimes getting too "what have you done for me lately."
