Carlos Pena Owners ...Keep Your Eyes Open

Doubt/hope many of you don't have Pena on your squads, but there are increasingly strong rumblings coming out of Detroit that his days as a starter are numbered.

Especially after his poor play vs. the Yanks of late. He has been just awful this year. The prospect tag has pretty much fallen off at this point (it should have 2-3 years ago, if you ask me.)

Even the normally ubeat "homer" Tigers brodcasters have begun to blast him.

No firm news .. just a heads-up.

Pena hasn't had an extra base hit in almost a month, strikes out once every 3 at bats, and mediocre SP make him look foolish. Meanwhile Chris Shelton, a 1B-DH at AAA is hitting .323 with 8 HR, 35 RBI, and a .979 OPS. Gee, what do you think should be done?

Trammell and/or upper management still chooses to stick with Pena, but this can only go on for so long. Of course, Pena shouldn't be fantasy relevant in ANY leagues at this point, so this is a bigger deal to us Tiger fans than most others.

I was watching the Yanks/Tigers game last night during the rain delay of the Met game and Pena looked absolutely lost during his ABs, made a bad error on the field as well, right through the legs, Buckner style.

i realize it was a thread concerning pena vrs kotchman and kotchman hasnt seen the light of day in the bigs this year yet but i'm just speaking of pena inability to hit over 245..
shoot, he's not hitting over the mendoza line at this point either. hes hitting a robust 177..

I do apologize for responding to this thread because it will bump a totally worthless posting from a fantasy standpoint.

That typed, the mutterings I've been hearing is there is a strong possiblity that he will be sent down Monday unless he turns it around this weekend. He had a single last night and faces a minor league pitcher today, so Trammell (who must have mad love for Pena) is giving him a great opportunity to save his job.

He should either be sent down, or told that the season is lost becuase the only time he hits is when it doesn't matter.
