I've had 9 seconds on beginner...
I seem to remember my best on Expert was 181, but I could be confusing that with Intermediate. I want to say Int was under 100 though. Maybe I'll have to play again to check.

I was joking about the beginner part. That was on expert. 181 is flying on expert. That would be pretty slow for intermediate so I am sure that is an expert time.

I'm glad you were joking. I was wondering if maybe your mouse was upside down or something and you were right clicking instead of left clicking...
Anyway, just played the game again to check for ballparking. Ended up with 16 on Beginner and 85 on Intermediate. The 9 seconds is a time I actually got, but it was the consequence of spastic clicking.
I remember spending hours playing this. It's probably not good that you reminded me of it...

Not to make you feel bad, but I just looked up the
record for expert level. It is 67 seconds.
I myself was never very good at minesweeper. The DTs keep me from moving fast enough. I think my best expert time was around 180.

it is impossible to get a 67 on expert level if you play right. I think what they do is keep going through the maps until they get to the one they memorize and then just click it out from there. You can do this easily by starting out clicking in the same spot that gives you a specific easily recognizable open area.

Actually, it might be possible. I read the handbook on that website, and it said that this guy was able to cut his times down from 300 to around 100. I think it's possible with a pretty good start and a nice map.
I think you'd have to click a lot of times for the random location of the mines to match up with a previous run. There's 100 mines spread over 480 squares.
