Albert Pujols - 1B - STL

Albert Pujols was at the hospital yesterday, but not for his own injury.
He is fine, but was visiting a two-year-old boy that was hit in the forehead by one of Pujols' foul balls on Monday. He brought the kid an autographed bat, an autographed hat, an autographed baseball card, two autographed baseballs, two batting gloves he wore in a recent game and a pair Nike cleats. He also posed for a Polaroid photograph with the boy and told his parents they could get free game tickets anytime. ''I'm just here to pay some family some respect,'' Pujols said. ''I'm glad he's doing better. He's a nice little kid.'' Very cool. May. 26 - 9:20 am et

Can't really comment on this except with a big ;-D. It's nice to hear that there are still good guys in the game (business, actually) today.

Hit by a foul ball, yet Pujols felt responsible to visit the kid and give him all that stuff? Certainly does show what a good guy Albert is. Props to Pujols. ;-D

Whatta guy! ;-D

Gotta love stories like that. I heard another one where Pujols was bidding on an extravagant cruise vacation in some kind of charity auction. After he won it, he stood up and said "this is for that girl over there", and gave it to a girl in the room with down syndrome. Apparently the girls family and everyone else in the room got all weepy and emotional.

I agree that Pujols is a real class act. Some time back I caught his bio on ESPN. I was very inpressed to see the dude marry an older woman who had children from a previous relationship. Even more impressive was that one of those children has Down Syndrome. How many 24 year old guys with serious bling is going to take on that responsibity?

Dude is a true role model!

Barry was quoted as saying "Hey kid, try some of this cream! It should make you feel better."
