Huh? No one expected Brazoban to keep closing. Well almost no one I guess.
Sad thing is, he deserves it (at least for everyone who doesn't own Gagne). I just hope he gets a trade option soon. Funny how Gagne comes back and they can't seem to even win let alone give him a chance to show his stuff.
He did well with Gagne out, but look at how Yhency has pitched since Gagne's return - pretty brutal.
I don't see LA moving him - once he settles down he's a great set-up man for Gagne and provides insurance incase Gagne gets hurt again.

Another 3.5 weeks without Lyon... but no surgery. So... , I guess.
Brandon Lyon was told today he wouldn't need surgery, but he's expected to miss at least another 3 1/2 weeks with a sore elbow.
Lyon has ''changes'' in his UCL. ''Dr. [Lewis] Yocum kind of reassured me that right now it's nothing too take too seriously,'' Lyon said, ''just take a rest right now and let Mother Nature take over and see how I feel in 10 days.'' If Lyon is able to resume throwing in 10 days, he'll need an additional two weeks before he can rejoin the Arizona pen. May. 27 - 9:52 pm et
So, is there any word that he will be the closer again when he comes back? I would hate to hang onto him for 3 1/2 weeks and then have him not even close.
Damn, I should have traded Lyon. I was looking to swap a closer for a starter and Lyon had generated a lot of interest. I didn't want to give him up, though, so I traded Chad Cordero for Carpenter instead. Lyon went on the DL only a few days later. OUCH.
I am the Master. Don't question the Master. Just do what he says and be proud.
Brandon Lyon said Friday that doctors believe rest, not surgery, is what is needed for his injured right elbow. Lyon said a second opinion from Los Angeles Angels doctor Lewis Yocum confirmed what Diamondbacks team doctor Michael Lee had believed, the "irregularities" in Lyon's elbow would not require reconstructive surgery. "Dr. Yocum kind of reassured me that right now it's nothing too take too seriously," Lyon said, "just take a rest right now and let Mother Nature take over and see how I feel in 10 days."
According to what Lee told Lyon, the most optimistic scenario for the closer's return to the Diamondbacks would be 3 1/2 weeks. "I think it's more of a strain with a little bit of tendinitis, too," Lyon said. "What actually had us do the MRI was the tendinitis. If I never had the tendinitis, they might not even has known this was there. I think we caught it at the right time, if it was really a problem."

I'm sure he'll get his job back when he returns. He might have a short leash though if the interim closer does great and he comes back less than dominant.

New outlooks state he is going to take a 10 day rest and see how it feels meaning no surgery - just rest. Thank god for my team.
