Wait. I'm not sure Bernero is really in the picture any more...

Kolb was warming up in the bullpen in the 9th inning, perhaps ready to close if Reitsma faltered at all. It was a 3 run lead tonite.
Just to confuse things even more...
Good info, thanks. That changes things a little bit...
Smoltz had 7 two inning saves last year, so we know that Cox doesn't mind doing that from time to time. So, maybe he wanted to see how Reitsma would handle that situation. He hadn't done that with Kolb yet this season. The fact that he left Reitsma in there for 2 innings after pitching yesterday makes me think Cox was testing how he would respond. Sort of seeing what he's got... Plus, the Mets did have Piazza and Wright coming up in that inning, so a couple hits and the situation would have been messy real quick.
But this Atlanta closer situation looks like a real mess. Gut says Kolb will get it back, especially since he closed the other night and was warming up tonight. But Reitsma working back to back, and even being pushed 2 innings in a save situation makes me wonder... What a mess...
