Update: Keith Foulke told WEEI's Dale and Holley today that he did not go to Alabama on Monday. Boston Dirt Dogs spoke again to Ron Brown, owner of The Factory Store in Cooperstown where Foulke was contracted to appear on Monday, who said "I've known Jack (Jack Berke, Foulke's representative) a long time and I don't think he would make that up. Somebody's pulling a fib here but I have no reason to be pulling a fib. Maybe he didn't go (to Alabama), but the agent miscommunicated. Maybe he didn't want to show, or come to Cooperstown, but the event is over and done but that's what I heard and that's what I told people."

Their sources of friends of relatives who might know something, but actually don't 99% of the time.

Jack Berke? Is not a baseball agent. He's runs autograph shows, one of which Foulke bailed on. Dirt Dogs misleadingly refers to him as "Foulke's representative", and Rotoworld morphs that understandably into "Foulke's agent".

In conclusion, I would not believe Boston Dirt Dogs if they reported that the Red Sox won the World Series last year.

If Foulke is out, it won't be Mantei--it'll be Timlin. He just had something like a 15-inning scoreless streak snapped, and Francona trusts him more.

Do I think Foulke is injured? Not because of this story. Dirt Dogs publishes anything he hears, and this originally was started by a lurker on a message board.

I think he may be injured because of his extended ineffectiveness and the fact that he's not setting his arms as high as he usually does in the windup--everyone can see it! One of the reasons why maybe it hasn't been corrected yet is because of an injury.
