There's zero chance of this happening IMO. Sweeney is due HUGE $$$ on the remaider of his contract, so that pretty much rules out Oakland, doesn't it? I do think he may finally move someplace, but the A's are about as unlikely a locale as you'll find.

Is Sweeney really going to be a huge upgrade over Dan Johnson? And the A's just can't pay that type of player, especialy with declining defensive skills.

The A's are better off rebuilding this year and making a run next year. I would love to see them trade for Adrian Gonzalez to be their 1B and make Dan Johsnon the regular DH next year. That will be the making of a nice cheap nucleus to add to Chavez, Crosby and Swisher for next year.

Sweeney is a perfect fit in Texas or Baltimore IMO. He needs to go to a contender.

with the A's basically out of contention for this year(sorry a's fans) , i dont see the A's making a deal that will not help them in the future,,, and getting sweeney would mean signing him to a long term deal, which i dont see the A's doing....
