he is a FA i like the yanks chances against the tigres, maybe he wont throw a no hit shutout or anything, but is 6ip 2ER 1.23Whip with a win reasonable. thanks

It's possible that he will go out and do awesome, but being his first big league start, it's also pretty risky, even if is against the Tigers. It seems that his problems thus far have nothing to do with his stuff not being good enough, but more to do with a lack of confidence, direction and execution. If those problems aren't worked out, it doesn't matter whether he faces the Tigers or the Cardinals, he'll still have problems. I don't think I'd take the risk, although it might be a good idea to pick him up, bench him and see how he does.

He sure shut the Jays down after Wells was getting hit hard in 4 ip, 0er. Watching it on tv they were saying that Torre told Contreras to stop being afraid to let the other team's bat hit the ball, that he was walking everybody because he was afraid to throw a hittable strike. If this adjustment works, he could be a great starter this year. I would pick him up and see how he does.
