Willie loosening the reigns?

If Mientkiewicz can go back to batting around .300 with an OBP in the high .300s, he'd actually be an ideal #2 hitter. Cameron's doing well there right now, but his career numbers make you believe that he'll stop rather soon. Reyes' lack of ability to get on base makes you think he shouldn't be leading off, but that's a switch that will never be made. IMO, best lineup would be:

3B Wright
CF Beltran
LF Floyd
C Piazza
CF Cameron
1B Mientkiewicz
2B Matsui

I like that lineup as well but I'm tempted to put Wright further down than the 2 spot since he is playing great and would like him to drive in some runs. Wherever he is, he NEEDS to be ahead of Mienky.

Honestly, anyone who bats Wright 7th, behind the likes of Marlon Anderson, does not inspire confidence that he has any clue.

Whether he's loosened the reigns or not - I don't know. But, based on the way he sets up his line-up, I'm starting to think that if the Mets win, it will be in spite of Willie, not because of him.

2B Matsui

Wright has shown very good discipline (correct me if I am wrong, but hasn't he seen the most amount of pitches in the league?). Beltran has produced wonderfull numbers out of the two spot.
