Ervin Santana Ultra-Sharp!

As devoted as I am to avoiding rookie pitchers, this kid had me racing to the FA pool in all four of my leagues as he pitched tonight. I already knew he was a major prospect, but his stuff tonight was pretty electrifying.

I'm going to chalk up the first start to nerves, as he was all over the place and appeared to be overthrowing. But tonight he was sensational and he'll be on my roster for his next start, which should be against KC this weekend.

I still don't know if the Halos plan on keeping him upstairs once Escobar returns, but he has a great chance to make it a difficult decision.

Angel announcers said this could be his last start due to Escobar coming back. They said the Angels may hold Escobar out 1 more game.

I got him last year in a keeper league draft.

Too bad I benched him this week because I didnt know if Escobar would make him mis his next start :*) .

I still think he isnt ready and will have more bad outings than good if he stays up.

Yeah, I can see where he might get optioned back to the minors. It's a numbers game situation. Escobar, Colon, Lackey, Washburn, Byrd...no room and no need for a sixth SP and he's not about to go to the pen.

But I doubt it will be long before he returns if that's the case. Byrd is about due for his annual breakdown, and we now know who is first in line. Hopefully, he'll get that one more start vs. KC.

I caught the last 4 innings of that game and he was amazing. 8-o He was hitting 94-95 in the ninth inning and that slider was K-Rodesque. ;-D

Now that's the Ervin "Magic" Santana that I know. ;-D

I knew he would have a better start from his first one, he never looked comfortable and wasn't hitting his spots. But man, I didn't expect him to do THIS well.

I wonder if he will be sent down to AAA with the way he came back and dominated this game. He surely doesn't need to be in AA anymore.

I currently have Dan Meyer in one of my keeper leagues and for some strange reason Ervin Santana is not taken. Should I swap the two?

Only so I can see him pitch "in person" at AA, but I'd be willing to drive the distance if the AAA club comes near by. Glad to see him be able to overcome that first start...unfortunately, the gas tank has already started as far as the MLB starts are concerned.

In other news...I'll be debating Tim Stauffer, Kyle Davis, and of course Ervin Santana as pick ups in my sole keeper league this week - any suggestions?
