No, you're definitely not out of your mind. Julio has a good chance of being traded to a contender somewhere around the ASB. He's worth holding onto if you need saves that badly.

I agree he could be some team's closer by the end of the year, but I'm not sure using a roster spot now is the smartest decision. I don't think he will traded anytime soon (and by "soon" I mean in the next 30 days).
BTW when is MLB's trade deadline this year?

Why would they trade him? They have the best 8th and 9th inning combo in the AL. Trade him to a contender?
I thought Baltimore was playing to contend for the AL East themselves. I just don't see them messing with a good thing.

I doubt that they trade him at this point. With his increase in skills he has become a pretty decent setup man and the O's are in contention because of how good their offense is, bullpen is and some good starters.

I couldn't agree more with the previous two posters. I think the early speculation of Julio eventually getting dealt was based on the fact that it was going to be all Sox and Yanks in the division. At this point, they can't deal him. That could all change before the deadline, but you don't deal a solid setup man if you think you can make a run in the playoffs.

Agreed, it's concievable that he could get traded if the O's go into a tailspin, but otherwise no. So you would essentially be banking on a Ryan injury, which makes him not really worth a roster spot. If you want a potential closer, guys like Gonzalez or Calero are far better bets in my book, especially Calero if you have an open DL spot and can stash him there.

I agree that Julio won't be traded. O's are playing well and they have a chance to be competitive for the balance of the year.
Unless they get blown away by an offer and/or someone goes down, Julio will continue to set up Ryan.
