So lets plug in some old ass vet who can barely walk, and sit this young speedster while we suck out in last place. Or gee, maybe lets start the FUTURE of the team.
As happens every year, a hot rookie gives lots of fantasy GMs boners, they snatch him up, drool over him, then the first slump they yell and scream he's a bust.
Last time I checked he was tied for 3rd in steals on a last place team (should get lots of playing time) and you got him off the WW. No one ever said he was the next beltran/arod.
He has actually looked a little better over the last week or two.
He had a nasty slump, which is to be expected since he is a rookie, but even though he is still not walking nearly enough, he batting over .300 for the last week, and in the last 10 days he has had 4 multi hit games and stolen 4 bases....
He's perfectly good for steals and Houston really has no better option at this point.
But, comon, a lead-off hitter with a <.280 OBP and 11 walks in >170AB's? You don't have to be Billy Beane to know this is bad.
I think he would have benefited greatly with at least one year at AAA. He's not a finished product. Of course, if the stros didn't call him this season I would be so screwed in steals so I'm happy to have him.

Traded for him last week and he's batting .286 with 2sb's this week...no complaining here

There is such a thing called clutch and David Ortiz is the modern day definition of it

Ok, only because this is clearly the worst confusion I've seen between two players in a long time, I will shed some light on this.
Astros CF = Willy TaVERAS
Cardinals RP = Julian TaVAREZ
Ta-vair-us and Ta-vahr-ez, see the difference?
Unfortunately just about everyone on television trying to talk about Willy gets the name wrong too, notably including Chip Caray and most everyone on baseball tonight/sportscenter. I am just trying to educate so us Cafe boys don't sound ignorant.
Nobody except for you was talking about Julian Tavarez!
