Is Taverez on his way out?

Postby ocmusicjunkie » Mon May 23, 2005 10:06 pm

This guy has some serious speed, but he's pulling his best Lowell impression at the plate. Do you see Houston keeping him in the lineup much longer? Furthermore, does he even belong on a roster in a 12-team league?

As of right now the Astros have no better options than Tavarez. With Bagwell hurt Berkman is playing 1B and Lane is struggling. Todd Self is starting a game in the OF tonight, until the Stros recover from their injuries I expect Willy to stay in there.

I know Bagwell being gone has saved Willy his job for now... but I think Self or Palmero could be stuck in there soon at this rate. I'm torn between holding onto Taverez and having him kill my average, or just assuming he's going to be done soon and grabbing someone else. :-o

#6 Morgan Ensberg 3B
#7 Adam Everett SS
#8 Brad Ausmus C

It is not pretty to say the least. Now why was it that they let Kent walk?

Ok, only because this is clearly the worst confusion I've seen between two players in a long time, I will shed some light on this.

Astros CF = Willy TaVERAS

Cardinals RP = Julian TaVAREZ

Ta-vair-us and Ta-vahr-ez, see the difference?

Unfortunately just about everyone on television trying to talk about Willy gets the name wrong too, notably including Chip Caray and most everyone on baseball tonight/sportscenter. I am just trying to educate so us Cafe boys don't sound ignorant.

At this point, both are almost worthless. So I think the point is moot. :-D

Definitely the best thing for the Stros but I doubt it happens. They seem to be unwilling to give Burke a shot ala Jason Lane.
