No link yet, but he was just on the radio here in San Diego (AM 1090) and said he will need surgery causing him to miss the next 2 months - MINIMUM.

Padres second baseman Mark Loretta will have surgery on his injured left thumb today and will be out at least two months and possibly the rest of the season.

General Manager Kevin Towers said yesterday that Geoff Blum and Damian Jackson will divide the playing time at second base. The Padres will make a corresponding move today when Loretta is officially put on the disabled list.

So guys, should I drop Loretta? Clint Barmes is my backup 2B but I'm not sure if I should drop Loretta because he will be a good asset during playoffs... what do you guys think?
