Value for the rest of the year, no previous stats taken into account.
Who agrees with what? Disagrees with what? I dont want a list formulated to my opinions, I want one that is the general consensus.

Couple quick points though I've barely looked -- I don't like Rivera #1. Takatsu shouldn't be on there. Dotel is too high. Wagner over Mesa? He hasn't even saved a game yet. Sisco but no Affeldt/MacDougal? Timlin... Timlin!?!? You're missing Fuentes who is closing in AZ.

It's a rough list, I didnt mean it to be perfect the first time.
5x5 by the way.
Who do you think #1? I dont see a #1 closer so far.
Does Takatsu still have save potential? If not, then he doenst belong on the list.
Fuentes can get on the end of the list, but Lyon's back this week, and Fuentes will go back to his back-up.
Dotel is too high, agreed.
Many people believe Wagner's job security is much better than Mesa's, I'll switch them because Wagner can always go back up there if he performs well.
Brain fart on the KC job.
Foulke's ERA is up north of 7, so is Timlin not next in line?
2 J. Nathan
3 B. Lidge
4 E. Gagne
5 F. Rodriguez
7 F. Cordero
6 B. Wagner - hopefully the injury bug stays away
1 M. Rivera - not a lot of save opps, and not the same Mo anymore
8 B. Ryan - great closer- future top 5
13 C. Cordero - I like this guy a lot
17 O. Dotel -he's go the skills to be higher than this, I think he'll be fine injury wise
9 K. Foulke - not enough save attempts
23 J. Mesa -lots of save attempts, good enough to get the job done
10 T. Hoffman
11 J. Isringhausen
14 G. Mota
12 E. Guardado - no confidence in this guy
15 D. Hermanson
16 D. Turnbow
18 B. Lyon
19 M. Batista
24 R. Wagner
20 B. Looper
21 B. Wickman
22 D. Baez
33 A. Bernero - much higher if he keeps the job for the entire season
25 J. Borowski
Fuentes
35 H. Street - mid-season-on closer?
26 T. Walker
27 J. Affeldt
28 T. Percival
29 S. Shields
30 J. Rincon
31 U. Urbina
32 M. Gonzalez
34 A. Reitsma
36 R. Seanez
37 J. Crain
38 L. Hawkins
41 J. Julio
42 A. Sisco
43 R. Madson
46 B. Donnelly
47 S. Takatsu
Brazoban (insurance on a Gagne injury)
Everyone else is about equal here- there are a lot of guys who'll put up high 2 low 3 ERA, WHIP around 1.1, reasonable number of Ks.

I don't think so (so I yanked him)
Dotel is too high, agreed. no way. Dotel is still a top notch closer, he'll come back and be solid for the rest of the season (whether he's with Oakland or not)
Foulke's ERA is up north of 7, so is Timlin not next in line? Foulke has more job security for the rest of the year than our president. His ERA could be 15 and they'd keep him on the mound methinks

You guys have to stop bashing Rivera. He had one bad week! His ERA and WHIP numbers are practically identical to his dominant years in MLB. He is just on pace for fewer save opps this season. There is no way I see him getting less than 40 saves. He has not dropped off a cliff and skills have not declined as much as people perceive.

I'm not bashing him at all! I didn't say he wasn't a great closer, and I'm not saying he's lost it all. But has he lost a step, yes- the cutter is as crisp as ever, but not quite as dominating as it used to be. The reason he's not top 3 is because the Yanks will win many more games by more than 3 runs than any other team. Period.

People aren't bashing him - I think he's still a top-5 RP this year, I just don't think he's #1.
