Brett Myers breakout season

6 runs or not, Myers is starting to show why scouts were comparing him to Mark Prior two years ago. I suspect he's going to keep up the good pitching for years to come.

I don't ever recall a scout comparing Myers to Prior. Prior was a MUCH better prospect than Myers ever was.

Myers has a chance to be a real good pitcher but until 1 1/2 months ago, he was marginal at best. I doubt he'll keep up this pace but he has an excellent chance to be a top 20 pitcher by year's end.

who cares who the palyers are compared too. just about the only comparisons I put any stock in would be on the bottom of the players profile on baseballreference

Myers had better stay in the game and the Cardinals had better score some runs if he is going to give up 6 runs.

This guy is a horse. He gave up a homer to Pujols, a homer to Edmonds and he has basically scattered a couple hits, allowed a couple guys to steal a base and struck everyone else out. And for the clown who was mentioning his walks earlier in the thread... 0 BB.

The scary thing is that he hasn't improved his BB/9. His K/9 and K/BB are better b/c of the increased K's, but when Sheets broke out last year he walked just 32 in 237 innnings. If Myers throws 237 innings at his current clip, he'll walk over 60.

Just for comparison, Pedro has averaged 58 walks per season over his career, Tom Glavine with 78 BB's, Roger Clemens with 77, and Big Unit has averaged 91 If Myers ends up with only 60 walks, that would be great.

On another note, Myers has now pitched 7 innings with 9 K's and 0 BB's.

Myers is a very nice pitcher. I offered Eaton and Urbina for him, got laughed at.
