RUMOR: Dotel to go on DL

Postby boston matt » Wed May 18, 2005 7:23 pm

Just heard this on another board... .rumor id Dotel will be hitting the DL for a while. Those in shallow leagues and a free slot might want to look at Street soon...

Octavio Dotel flew to Los Angeles to have his sore elbow examined by Dr. Lewis Yocum.
A DL stint is a possibility for Dotel, but no decision is expected before Friday. If Dotel is placed on the DL, Huston Street would be the favorite for saves in Oakland. Jairo Garcia could be recalled to help in a setup role.

OAKLAND A'S

Huston Street to "closer" for Octavio Dotel
Justin Duchscherer to "1st in line" for Huston Street
Jairo Garcia to "2nd in line" for Justin Duchscherer

Dotel is having his sore elbow examined and it is still unknown at this time
to the extent of his injury. Street, who has been projected to be the A's
closer since they took him with the 40th pick in last years' MLB draft,
should take over as closer. Street has a 1.21 WHIP and 1.21 K to IP ratio on
the season. Garcia is a hard throwing, 22-year-old prospect currently at
AAA, but could get promoted if Dotel is placed on the DL.

has anyone heard anything new on this?

i've been offered a trade. some guy wants dotel and he'll give me beltre. i think i should take it before he finds out about the injury. i'm pretty ok at closer and could use a third baseman.

i have street, chad cordero, urbina, bruney (arizona), dotel, tyler walker (SF)
at third i have hillenbrand
what do you guys think?

That sounds pretty unethical to knowingly trade an injured player to an owner that doesn't know. :-C

As long as the other owner knows that Dotel might go onto the DL then it's ok. ;-D
