Corey Patterson batting 6th tonight... good or bad???

first off, dougout dice.... hahahaha. very nice.

secondly, this is a good move for the cubs. they need someone up there who can actually gives derek lee and co. rbi opprotunities. so while this may hurt patterson's run production, i think the biggest loss from this move will be steals, which he wasn't getting a ton of, anyways. he'll drive in more runs there, but the loss in SB makes this bad from a fantasy baseball perspective.

still, consider this a small boost for hte likes of prior, c-zam, etc.

I like it mroe than when hes leadoff, he didnt produce at leadoff, i think he would make a good 3 or 5 hitter, preferably 3 and put lee at 4 then burnitz at 5 and rameriz at 6 or switch burnitz and rameriez... looking at the cubs lineup it hurts missing nomar, but im not sure were hed be put... tough to make a lineup with (i thought of doing one, but its too hard, give dusty some slack)

I would doubt it is a permanent switch anyhow. With Walker back next week and Dubois getting most of the LF time, their only other possible leadoff hitter, Hairston, will be on the bench for the most part so Corey will be back at #1 I'm guessing.

From a fantasy standpoint this obviously hurts his value, more RBI opp but a lot less runs scored and most likely less steal attempts. For the cubs though, I like this move, maybe he should be 5th ahead of Burnitz but Jeromy has been playing surprisingly decent this year. CP is not a top of the lineup hitter, that .300 OBP in the 1 or 2 hole is just horrible.

I agree. Fantasy-wise this is bad. Less AB = Less production.
But I think this is a good move for the Cubs. He needs to have a higher OBP if he expects to bat 1 or 2.

I gotta believe this 6th thing is temporary until he gets his OBP respectable. Then he should be back in the leadoff spot by the all-star break.

Then I gotta believe Dusty will hit Prior leadoff when he pitches and Patterson 2, and D. Lee in the 9 hole.
