Should these be vetoed?? HELP

Postby ViperGJG » Sat May 24, 2003 11:00 pm

I'm the commish of a mid season league and these 2 trades were just accepted after the draft. They are between the same 2 teams and it seems alittle fishy to me. Have a look

Trade 1:
Team A gives
J.D. Drew
Matt Mantei
Jose Mesa
Kip Wells

Team B gives
Keith Foulke
John Smotlz

Trade 2:
Team A gives
E. Durazo

Team B gives
Mike Sweeney

I brought up the fact that they seem lopsided and only Team A replied saying he would bench his team and stop checking it if the trades were vetoed...hence ruining the league. HELP!?!?

i honestly think they are fine. the first one is a little lopsided but not bad enough to warrant a veto. the 2nd one is really close so that defineatly shouldnt be vetoed.

The first trade is absolutely fine. He is giving up two stud closers in Foulke and Smoltz and getting two weaker closers, but also a decent outfielder and a solid starting pitcher. If he needs another starter and outfielder, I see no problem with that trade.

In the second trade, the team getting Sweeney is obviously getting the better deal, but the difference isn't huge, they are two top 10 1B. Maybe the owner giving up Sweeney is concerned about his nagging injuries or just prefers Durazo for some reason.

Unless you can see evidence of collusion, leave the trades alone. These are ill advised trades but nowhere near vetoable.

Apply the "consenting adult" rule...if it ain't collusion, don't get involved.

If you veto these you deserve to have the league ruined. You have to be the better man as the commish and only veto collusion.

I think you're in for a long season if you have owners already threatening to sit things out...

my advice is take 48 hours to look at the deals objectively before approaching the owners with collusion talk....

I think you jumped the gun, the deals look fine to me as well
