Who's a Decent Grab if Bonds is out long-term?

Postby YankFan51 » Sat May 24, 2003 6:14 pm

My league has OPS, so Bonds hurts being out

my lineup is
Kendall, Thome, Vidro, Nomar, Pujols, Bonds, Beltran, Berkman, and Damon at Util. My bench has Spivey and Lofton. Which of these guys would be a decent pickup?

I like Catalanotto out of that list. He won't help much with the power numbers but he is good for a .300 plus average, and gets loads of runs batting 2nd in the Jays' crazy offense in front of Wells and Delgado.

Bonds is only out until Tuesday, so I wouldn't sweat it too much.

AP now reports that Bonds is out until at least next weekend, but won't go on the DL.

I would go with Vinny Castilla. He is knocking the cover off the ball. Ride him as long as he is hot, which might not last long but as of now he will help you.

A good add would be Geoff Jenkins. He produces whenever he's healthy, and he's been mostly healthy so far.

Look like you need an OF the most, so I'd suggest Jenkis, Grissom, Nady or possibly Jason Bay.

Kielty will be sharing time at DH and OF again soon, so his playing time will drop off a bit, otherwise he'd have to be considered as well.

Wilkerson. He's been out a bit b/c of pinkeye, but before that he was on a tear. The Expos are on fire right now, and he's gonna be back Mon or Tue.

What the hell.. I'm just gonna throw out Byrnes just to really throw you into a state of confusion. Not to mention he got another owner over 30pts this week in my H2H league which i was surprised to see. Seeing as how Wilson only got me 5 pts all week!

Yeah, I missed Byrnes on the first read. Now that Bay has a broken wrist, I'll replace him with Byrnes.

Apparently Dye is close to coming back, but it sounds like Dye and Long will compete for PT, and Byrnes has earned a spot in the OF.

He's such a stud.
