Baggs is my favorite player. It obviously pains me to see him say it might be over. I'm hoping for a September return, so I can see him 1 more time.

Good post. I've always been a fan of Bags too, I wish I could've gotten to see him play more. A guy like that, I'll never really believe he's done until I see it. I wouldn't rule out a late-season comeback (although it might not be a triumphant comeback...).
My gut tells me that Bags falls short of the HOF by the slimmest of margins, but I'm not as familiar with him as sluggers in the AL. What do other people think?

He is one of the biggest class acts in baseball today. Just as an example, how many players stay with one team their entire career? Not many. If he does miss the HOF, it won't be by much.

I hate Jeff Bagwell.
Well I guess that is mostly due to him being a Houston Astro and me being a Chicago Cubs fan. Otherwise he is a terrific player with incredible character. Anyone who does not think he should be in the hall of fame is completely wrong in my opinion.

Bags is definitely a HOF player. His numbers alone should get him in. His class is such a welcome difference from players that don't respect the game...like Carlos Zambrano and Barry Bonds.

I agree. Unless he decides he's done. Then I can understand him knowing that surgery would probably be then end of it, and he wanted to get as much out of it as he could.
Either way, class guy.
