Really... I think this pattern is just what you want to see from a great player that fell into a BIG slump. The past week or two he's been slowly improving, no breakout games or anything but a lot of consistent improvement...
And I think that's actually a good sign, in a way. A lot of times a slumping hitter suddenly has one great game and everyone's ready to jump on the "Broken Slump" bandwagon, only to find that the next game it's right back to the beginning. Matsui is consistently hitting much differently now from he how was hitting three weeks ago... and in another two weeks, I think he'll be consistently hitting much better than he is now.
Anyway, that's just my opinion...
