well, the Sox closer situation is a day to day thing, but Lyon definitely has the clear advantage at the moment. Lyon struck out the side against the Yanks to close out a game earlier in the week, but I wouldn't rule out Person just yet. If you can wait he may be valuable later on, but as of now, Lyon is the guy. Who knows, even if Person doesn't win the closer role, he still could end up in the rotation.
Lyon is the closer. There are articles at mlb.com, fanball.com, and yahoo sports about it. The only way he loses the job is if he messes up a few times (which is possible), but he's done very well so far.
Yes doctor, I am sick. Sick of those who are spineless. Sick of those who feel self-entitled. Sick of those who are hypocrites. Yes doctor, an army is forming. Yes doctor, there will be a war. Yes doctor, there will be blood.....

I think that that would be completely pointless, and would hurt the sox. Lyon has pitched effectively,. and benitez just flat out sucks. We let UuU go because we didnt want to pay so mch for a closer, so i doubt the sox would sign one for a lot again.
Regardless of what Met fans and media seem to think, Benitez is an excellent closer, and one of the best in the majors. Over the past three years, he leads all closers who had at least 20 saves in the three years in successful save conversion percentage. He did have one rough two week stretch this year, where his ERA balooned to 7.00. Since May 1, he has not allowed a run and his ERA is down to 3.61 and dropping. He is far better than any of the washed up rejects in the Boston pen and they would be a far better team with Benitez closing for them. The only thing preventing the Sox from making a trade to bring in a real closer is not the obvious need for one, it's Epstein's ego and refusal to accept that his bullpen committee idea is garbage.
